waking up, i read that a number of places that pete and i have passed through are suffering terrible losses right now. much more loss is felt in india and sri lanka, which have been ravaged.

prisoners escaping as waves rip through the beach-side jail and people swept away from beaches gripping their children...tragedy on an almost epic scale.

reading about thousands of fishermen going missing sinks my heart. these lives and boats are so valuable in sustaining lives for their communities. we are looking into where to send our money for the most good (ie: where corrupt government doesn't skim it away).

i deeply wish that the many loving friends we met in indonesia, malaysia and thailand are safe...and a higher and more secure rebirth for the thousands of souls who have been affected.

It's just so disturbing to wake up to that on a holiday....

10,000 people. i can't even wrap my head around it. i've never had the pleasure of visiting those places, but i'll be thinking of your friends as well. (((lloli)))

i am still in shock. i wonder how many, if any, of my sri lankan friends are still alive.

in thailand, i have more hope. almost everyone i know is in or around bangkok.

and in indonesia, on java, not sumatra.

i despair for the couple i know so well who live in the maldives.

and one of my dearest friends in the world went home to india for the holiday.

i haven't heard from anyone yet.

lloli, thank you for those words of hope -- of a higher and more secure rebirth for all of the souls who have left us......

It's only going to get worse too. Not only because of the actual wreckage caused by the tsunami, but often times, it's the tainted resources (and lack thereof) that really cause the disaster. We must pray for the best and brace ourselves, and hope those we care for who have been affected survive the best they cant. And as tesao said, those who havent beget a higher rebirth...
